Sayh al Uhaymir 511’s official classification is Ureilite. A “Ureilite” is a type of stony meteorite that belongs to the ureilite group. These meteorites are unique because they are ultramafic and contain interstitial carbon in the form of graphite or diamond. Most ureilites consist of olivine and pigeonite, but some may have different pyroxenes, and a small portion are polymict breccias, which means they contain additional feldspathic material along with typical ureilitic components.
