Sayh al Uhaymir 043 is considered a “Valid” meteorite. “Valid” meteorites are typical meteorites with average weathering, while “relict” meteorites are those that have been extremely altered, either due to weathering over time or human intervention.
Sayh al Uhaymir 043’s official classification is H3-5. The classification “H3-5” describes a type of meteorite called an ordinary chondrite from the H group. This meteorite is a mixture, known as a breccia, of different components ranging from type 3 to type 5. Type 3 components have lots of chondrules and haven’t undergone much alteration, while type 5 components have experienced significant changes due to metamorphism, resulting in the transformation of certain minerals and the blurring of chondrule outlines.
The Sayh al Uhaymir 043 meteorite is a “Found” meteorite. Meteorites are classified as “falls” if they were observed falling and recovered, while “finds” are those discovered later, often weathered by longer exposure to Earth’s environment and without a record of being seen as they fell.
