Dhofar 1468’s official classification is H~5. The classification “H~5” represents an ordinary chondrite from the H group that is approximately petrologic type 5. Ordinary chondrites, including those from the H group, are characterized by sub-solar Mg/Si ratios, oxygen isotope compositions distinct from terrestrial values, and a significant proportion of chondrules, while type 5 designates chondrites that have experienced metamorphism resulting in changes to mineral compositions and chondrule appearances.
