LL~4 Meteorite Classification

Class Description

The LL~4 classification refers to a meteorite from the LL group of ordinary chondrites, characterized by low iron and metal content, that closely approaches but doesn’t exactly meet the criteria for petrologic type 4. This type indicates the meteorite has undergone significant metamorphism, enough to make its olivine minerals uniform in composition and to restructure its fine-grained matrix, but still retains abundant chondrules and lacks primary igneous glass.
