Class Description

The classification “L4-5” refers to an ordinary chondrite from the L group that is a breccia made up of components from both petrologic type 4 and type 5. These meteorites contain abundant chondrules and have undergone varying degrees of metamorphism, with type 4 components having certain mineral changes, while type 5 components have undergone more extensive alterations, including the conversion of certain minerals and the blurring of chondrule outlines.
