H3.8-6 Meteorite Classification

Class Description

The H3.8-6 meteorite classification describes a particular type of ordinary chondrite from the high-iron H group, made up of a mix (breccia) of elements showing characteristics of petrologic types 3 to 6. This indicates that the meteorite contains a range of components, from those with numerous well-preserved chondrules and minimal alteration (type 3), to those that have undergone more extensive metamorphism, where minerals are more uniform and chondrules are less visible (type 6).
