H3.3 Meteorite Classification

Class Description

An “H3.3” meteorite is a type of ordinary chondrite from the H group with petrologic type 3 characteristics. Ordinary chondrites are a major class of meteorites known for their abundant chondrules, and the H group within them is distinguished by its high iron content and smaller chondrules. Petrologic type 3 indicates that the meteorite has low degrees of alteration and unequilibrated mineral assemblages, with specific features like monoclinic low-Ca pyroxene grains and polysynthetic twinning.
