CK4 Meteorite Classification

Class Description

The “CK4” classification identifies a carbonaceous chondrite from the Karoonda (CK) group, characterized by a high content of fine-grained matrix, chondrules without igneous rims, and a notable degree of oxidation. As a type 4 meteorite, it has undergone metamorphism leading to uniform olivine compositions, recrystallized matrix, and an absence of primary igneous chondrule glass.
