C4-ung Meteorite Classification

Class Description

The C4-ung classification is used for a specific type of carbonaceous chondrite meteorite, known for its solar-like magnesium-to-silicon ratio and unique oxygen isotope composition, that doesn’t fit into any established groups. This type 4 meteorite has undergone a significant level of metamorphism, resulting in uniform olivine composition and a refined matrix structure, while retaining a high presence of chondrules and lacking primary igneous glass.
